MD TP16: Drug-induced pemphigoid

Pemphigoid diseases are a group of similar autoimmune subepidermal bullous disorders in which autoantibodies are directed against components of the hemidesmosomal complex of the dermal-epidermal junction. Among pemphigoid diseases, bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most common disease with an incidence of 13.4-42/million/year1,2. In BP, autoantibodies are directed to the hemidesmosomal proteins BP180 and BP230.  The eruption of pemphigoid diseases can be associated with the intake of certain drugs.

We here will evaluate the effects of selected drugs on key pathogenic events in pemphigoid disease.
