associated TP2: B cell mediated T cell activation and inflammation

This projects aims in identifying the conditions required to induce expression of immunosuppressive IL-10 in B cells and to investigate the impact of these B cells on the outcome of autoimmune diseases. The impact of extrinsic signals on IL-10 production by B cells is investigated in vitro. The capacity of IL-10 producing B cells for suppression of inflammation is investigated in mouse models in vivo. Induction of immunosuppressive B cells (Breg) has the potential to develop into a novel cell based therapeutic strategy for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
