TP B3: Metabolomics in autoimmunity

In our previous studies, we analyzed serum from a mouse model of epidermolysis bullosa acquisita using NMR-based metabolomics. We were able to discriminate diseased mice and healthy controls (Schoenig et al., 2013). In another study, we found metabolic changes in neutrophils under active and apoptotic states reflecting changes in energy metabolism (Richer et al., 2018). Based on these findings, we would like to further investigate the metabolomes in various model systems of autoimmune blistering diseases. We aim to correlate the metabolic changes to different stages of these autoimmune diseases to gain insights into the pathogenesis. In addition, investigating metabolic changes in cellular models will provide details in the altered biochemical pathways associated with the diseases.
